Courses & Training
Our training services draw on extensive professional contact with a wide
range of refugees and the
professionals who work with them.
We are experienced in working with the issues raised by contact with clients
who have had experience of trauma that include: torture, murder, orphan street
children, child soldiers, unaccompanied minors, honour killing threats, political
assassination, and survivors and witnesses of extreme violence and sexual assault.
Our services integrate experience of the problems of working across cultural
differences and the nature of clients' anxiety whilst in the asylum process
Consultancy and Therapy
We offer services to colleagues working with clients engaged in the asylum
process. This service is a professional consultancy supporting colleagues
affected by the intellectual, emotional and psychological impact of providing
services to anxious and distressed clients. This service is currently offered to
solicitors, social workers, translators, psychotherapists, counsellors, teachers, and
outreach workers.
Training and Workshops
We also offer training and workshops to support colleagues in the work that they
do. Our work can be tailored to the needs of your staff and the issues raised by
the client group that they work with. Some recent examples of these have
included:
- Training and workshops for education professionals which cover the
different backgrounds
to educational expectations and address behavioral issues.
- Resources for fellow therapists to help them explore, understand and work with the
challenges that arise when providing therapy for this diverse client group.
- Access to our database of cultural, political and religious situations in
countries of origin.
